Product Overview
What makes the ML-EDID-FD
The ML-EDID-FD features 1 HDMI input and 1 HDMI output and is installed inline between the HDMI source and HDMI display. It provides 16 selectable EDID settings labeled A to P, allowing integrators to define resolution and audio format parameters independent of the connected display’s native EDID.
In many commercial AV systems, HDMI sources may default to the lowest common resolution or an incompatible audio format based on automatic EDID detection. This can result in incorrect resolution output, no video signal, audio dropouts, loss of multichannel audio capability, and unstable HDMI handshaking. The ML-EDID-FD eliminates these uncertainties by locking the desired EDID configuration, ensuring consistent and controlled communication between devices.
The device supports a wide range of video resolutions including 720P, 1080i, 1080P, 4K@30Hz, and 4K@60Hz when the Sink EDID setting is used. This flexibility ensures compatibility across legacy displays, Full HD monitors, and modern 4K panels within mixed-resolution infrastructures.
All EDID configuration details are clearly printed on the bottom side of the unit for easy reference during installation and commissioning. Its compact form factor makes it suitable for AV racks, control rooms, digital signage systems, conferencing rooms, educational institutions, hospitality installations, and broadcast environments.

Installation
Inline installation between source and display
The ML-EDID-FD is designed for plug-and-play deployment. It is placed inline between the HDMI source and the display or downstream signal distribution equipment, with EDID preset selection performed during commissioning.
01
Connect the Device Inline
Place the ML-EDID-FD between the HDMI source device and the HDMI display or downstream distribution equipment. Connect the HDMI source to the HDMI input port and the display or matrix input to the HDMI output port. The device operates inline without requiring any additional power supply connections beyond standard HDMI.
02
Select the EDID Preset
Using the onboard EDID selector, choose one of the 16 preset EDID configurations (A to P) according to the resolution and audio format required by the installation. The EDID configuration reference chart is printed on the bottom side of the unit for quick reference during setup. Once set, the source device will output the defined resolution and audio format regardless of the display's internal EDID profile.
Where the ML-EDID-FD performs
Designed for professional AV environments where controlled HDMI communication, stable resolution output, and reliable audio negotiation are critical to system performance.
Boardrooms and Conference Rooms
Prevent resolution mismatch between laptops, video conferencing systems, and 4K displays. Locking the EDID ensures the source always outputs the correct resolution for the room display, regardless of which laptop or device is connected.
Digital Signage Networks
Ensure stable and consistent resolution output across distributed display systems. By fixing the EDID at the source, the ML-EDID-FD prevents signal dropouts or resolution changes that can disrupt digital signage content delivery.
AV Integration Projects
Resolve EDID-related compatibility issues during commissioning and system expansion. When integrating multiple HDMI sources with display or matrix equipment, the ML-EDID-FD provides a reliable reference EDID for predictable source behaviour.
Hospitality and Commercial Installations
Control audio format negotiation between media sources and centralized sound systems in hotels, restaurants, and commercial venues. The ML-EDID-FD ensures the correct audio format is always presented to downstream audio processors or receivers.
Educational Institutions
Maintain consistent display output in classrooms and lecture halls where multiple source devices such as laptops, tablets, and presentation systems connect to fixed projectors or interactive displays of varying native EDID profiles.
Broadcast and Control Room Environments
Provide a stable and fixed EDID reference for broadcast monitoring chains and control room video systems where signal integrity and predictable resolution output are mandatory requirements for reliable operation.

Frequently asked questions
What is the purpose of the ML-EDID-FD HDMI EDID Feeder?
The ML-EDID-FD manages EDID communication between HDMI source devices and displays, preventing resolution mismatch, audio issues, and signal instability in AV installations. It locks the EDID to a predefined configuration, ensuring the source device always outputs the correct resolution and audio format regardless of the display’s native EDID.
How many EDID configurations are available on this device?
The device provides 16 selectable EDID presets labeled from A to P, allowing installers to choose the desired resolution and audio format. All configuration details for each preset are printed on the bottom side of the unit for easy reference during installation and commissioning.
What resolutions does the ML-EDID-FD support?
It supports resolutions including 720P, 1080i, 1080P, 4K@30Hz, and 4K@60Hz when using the appropriate EDID setting. This range ensures compatibility across legacy displays, Full HD monitors, and modern 4K panels within mixed-resolution infrastructures.
Can this device control audio format negotiation?
Yes, it supports audio formats such as 2 Channel LPCM, 5.1 LPCM, Dolby AC3, DTS 5.1, and pass-through modes for compatibility with professional audio systems. This is particularly important in installations where AV receivers, DSP systems, or soundbars require a specific audio format for proper operation.
Where is the ML-EDID-FD commonly used?
It is commonly used in boardrooms, digital signage networks, AV integration projects, hospitality installations, and commercial environments where stable HDMI communication is critical. The compact form factor also makes it suitable for AV racks, control rooms, educational institutions, and broadcast environments.
How is the ML-EDID-FD installed in a system?
The ML-EDID-FD is installed inline between the HDMI source and the HDMI display or downstream signal distribution equipment. It features 1 HDMI input and 1 HDMI output. Once connected, the installer selects one of the 16 preset EDID configurations using the onboard selector, and the source device will communicate according to the chosen EDID profile. No complex software configuration is required.
Why is EDID management necessary in commercial AV systems?
In commercial AV systems, HDMI sources may automatically default to the lowest common resolution or an incompatible audio format based on the display’s native EDID. This automatic detection can cause incorrect resolution output, no video signal, audio dropouts, loss of multichannel audio capability, and unstable HDMI handshaking. The ML-EDID-FD prevents these issues by locking a defined EDID configuration, providing predictable and controlled HDMI communication regardless of what display is connected downstream.
