Product Overview

What makes the ML ADA102

The ML ADA102 is a compact analog to digital audio convertor designed to bridge analog audio sources with digital audio receivers and amplifiers. It accepts a single stereo L/R RCA analog audio input and simultaneously delivers two digital audio outputs: one Toslink optical and one Coaxial SPDIF.

The digital output signal is formatted as 2-channel uncompressed LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation), the most widely compatible format for digital audio receivers, home theatre amplifiers, and professional AV equipment. This ensures full compatibility without additional processing or decoding requirements at the receiving end.

Operating at a fixed 48 KHz sampling rate, the ML ADA102 delivers consistent audio quality with high tone fidelity and a low noise floor. Its electromagnetic-noise-free transmission design prevents interference-related audio degradation, making it suitable for environments with dense electronic equipment.

The unit requires no configuration or driver installation. It is powered by a standard 5V/1A DC adaptor and is ready for use immediately after connecting source and output cables. Its compact dimensions of 70mm x 50mm x 22mm and low weight of 150 grams make it suitable for integration into rack systems, AV cabinets, or desktop setups.

Key Features

Built for reliable analog to digital audio conversion

One analog input. Two simultaneous digital outputs. Uncompressed LPCM audio with zero configuration required.

Simultaneous Dual Digital Output

The ML ADA102 converts one analog L/R stereo input into two digital audio outputs at the same time. One Toslink optical output and one Coaxial SPDIF output are active simultaneously, allowing connection to two different digital receivers without signal splitting.

Uncompressed LPCM Audio Format

The digital output is delivered as 2-channel uncompressed LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation) data. This format is directly compatible with the vast majority of digital AV receivers, amplifiers, and processors without requiring additional decoding.

High Tone Quality at 48 KHz Sampling

Audio sampling is fixed at 48 KHz, delivering high tone quality with a low noise floor. This sampling rate is the standard for professional audio and broadcast applications, ensuring accurate digital representation of the analog source.

Electromagnetic-Noise-Free Transmission

The convertor is designed to provide electromagnetic-noise-free signal transmission. This is particularly important in environments with dense electronic equipment such as data centres, control rooms, and AV racks where EMI can degrade analog signal quality.

Zero Configuration. Instant Operation

The ML ADA102 requires no software, drivers, or settings adjustment. Connect the analog source, connect the digital output devices, plug in the 5V DC adaptor, and the unit is operational. This makes deployment fast and eliminates setup complexity.

Compact and Lightweight Form Factor

At 70mm x 50mm x 22mm and weighing just 150 grams, the ML ADA102 is suitable for integration in space-constrained installations. It fits in AV cabinets, equipment racks, or desktop setups without occupying significant space.

Installation

Simple three-step installation

The ML ADA102 requires no configuration. Follow the three steps below to complete a working installation.

01

Connect the Audio Source

Connect the analog audio source device to the convertor using an appropriate L/R RCA cable. The source can be a DVD player, HD media player, PC audio output, or any device providing an analog stereo L/R output signal. Ensure a secure connection at both the source and the convertor's RCA input.

02

Connect the Digital Output Devices

Connect the AV receiver or amplifier to the convertor using an appropriate Toslink optical cable and/or a Coaxial cable. Both outputs can be connected simultaneously to different destination devices. Ensure each cable is seated firmly at the convertor output and the receiving device input.

03

Apply Power

Insert the DC 5V/1A adaptor into the convertor's power input. The unit powers on immediately with no initialisation required. The convertor begins processing and outputting the digital audio signal as soon as power is applied and source and output connections are in place.

04

Verify Output at Receiving Devices

Confirm that the connected AV receivers or amplifiers are set to accept the appropriate digital input: optical (Toslink) or coaxial (SPDIF). Select the correct input on each receiving device and verify that audio playback is functioning as expected from the analog source.

Ideal Applications

Where the ML ADA102 is used

Suitable for any environment where analog audio sources need to feed digital AV systems without signal loss or noise interference.

Data Centre Control Rooms

Convert analog audio outputs from monitoring or communications equipment to digital format for integration with digital AV systems in data centre environments. The noise-free transmission design suits high-EMI locations.

Conference Room Presentations

Enable analog audio sources such as laptops or media players to connect to digital conference room AV systems. Both Toslink and Coaxial outputs allow simultaneous connection to speaker systems and recording equipment.

School and Educational Institutions

Connect analog audio outputs from older classroom equipment, such as DVD players or audio playback devices, to digital amplifiers or projector systems used in modern educational setups.

Corporate Training Rooms

Integrate analog audio sources into digital AV infrastructure in training rooms. The convertor allows trainers to use legacy media players or PC analog outputs with modern digital sound systems without additional adapters.

DVD and HD Player Integration

Used with DVD players and HD media players that provide analog L/R outputs, enabling their audio to be received by digital home theatre receivers or professional AV amplifiers that only accept Toslink or Coaxial digital inputs.

PC Digital Audio Output

Convert the analog audio output of desktop or workstation computers into a digital signal for connection to digital audio monitors, amplifiers, or recording interfaces that require a Toslink or SPDIF coaxial input.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs about the ML ADA102

The ML ADA102 converts one analog stereo L/R audio input (via RCA connectors) into two simultaneous digital audio outputs: one Toslink optical output and one Coaxial SPDIF output. Both outputs carry a 2-channel uncompressed LPCM digital audio signal.

Yes. The Toslink optical output and the Coaxial SPDIF output are both active simultaneously. You can connect two separate digital receivers or amplifiers and both will receive the converted audio signal at the same time from a single analog input source.

The ML ADA102 supports an audio sampling rate of 48 KHz. This is a standard sampling rate for professional audio and broadcast applications, ensuring high tone quality and accurate digital representation of the analog input signal.

No. The ML ADA102 requires no software installation, driver setup, or settings configuration. Connect the analog audio source, connect the digital output devices, and apply the 5V DC power adaptor. The unit begins operation immediately.

Any device providing an analog stereo L/R RCA audio output can be used as the source. This includes DVD players, HD media players, PCs with analog audio outputs, and other consumer or professional audio equipment with RCA L/R connectors.

The digital output is 2-channel uncompressed LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation). This is an uncompressed audio format directly compatible with digital AV receivers, amplifiers, and audio processors without requiring additional decoding hardware or software.

The ML ADA102 is powered by a standard 5V/1A DC adaptor. The adaptor is not included and must be sourced separately. Ensure the adaptor output matches the 5V/1A specification to avoid damage to the unit.

The ML ADA102 operates reliably within a temperature range of -10 degrees C to 55 degrees C. For storage when not in use, the safe range is -20 degrees C to 60 degrees C. Operating outside these ranges may affect performance or cause damage.
